mississippi antecedent
Mississippi Antecedent was a 36 page booklet I created to tell the story of gentrification's effects on a largely African-American neighborhood close to my NE Portland home. In it— parallel data of
the gentrification process is presented along with information gathered from the Portland Historical Society, Multnomah Public records and a series of interviews conducted with Mr. James Loving—who was president of the Mississippi Neighborhood Association for many years. James Loving helped to found many aid programs for the neighborhood during some of it's bleaker days.
